Custom Excerpts Plugin for WordPress

Custom Excerpts allows you to implement custom excerpt text, length, and to choose HTML tags to allow and whether to make the link nofollow or dofollow. Previously the only way to achieve this was to edit the WordPress core file formatting.php which meant changes would be lost after each update.

It baffles me why someone would go to the trouble of writing a WordPress plugin but not take the time to write some decent step-by-step documentation for how to install it and make it work. A prime example is a very handy WordPress plugin for adding a digg button to your post.

Steps
Register a domain (or subdomain) at a PHP host.
Go to http://www.phpbb.com/ or http://www.simplemachines.org/ and download their PHP forum software. Another great one to download is Integramod. This is a standard copy of phpBB, but it comes with many mods. You can get it at http://www.integramod.com/
